Just yesterday morning, my father and I were driving to the same destination in separate cars. He left moments before me, so I trailed behind him briefly, but he went at a pace accommodating to me. As we made our way from point A to point B, I was intentional about staying directly behind him. Although, it seemed every other car on the road had a different plan.
It was quite peculiar — and it stood out strongly to me. As we drove along for the rather short journey, it seemed that cars were making it a point to cut me off and disconnect the envoy that was father and son. He would stop at a red light and I would be rolling up slowly behind him when a car from the lane to my left would randomly jolt out from a stand still to get in my way. I assumed he decided to turn at last moment as he made his way in front of me, however that was not the case! I guess he just wanted to be a part of the party.
It seems so insignificant, but the theme continued on in such an odd fashion. It caught my attention and had the wheels in my head beginning to turn. Was it a message? Was there intentional purpose from Above behind this strange series of events? Well, whether it was an intentional note to me or not, I received the message.
Driving along with others constantly attempting to break direct contact with my father as I attempted to follow him couldn't help but have me processing how everything in our world is attempting to break our contact with the Father as we attempt to follow Him.
Vehicles of distraction, vehicles of temptation, vehicles of lies, etc. are constantly attempting to cut us off — and often times they succeed. The list could go on, but what is certain is this: the enemy is doing everything he can to break our line of sight with our Heavenly Father as we are eager to follow His lead.
As I kept my eyes peeled on where my father was and what obstacles I needed to navigate to get back directly behind him, I encourage all of us to stay conscious of the easier to miss spiritual, psychological, and emotional obstacles we need to navigate to keep our eyes on the ultimate Father.
He will lead the way and He will go at a pace accommodating to you.
